The Braasvellbreen glacier is part of Austfonna, the largest glacier surface in Europe with 8.500 sqkms and a glacier front of 200 kms. Braasvellbreen is called "the crying glacier" due to all the glacial rivers coming over the front.In 1937/38 Braasvellbreen had an extraordinary surge (advance)of 20 kms in one year.
